Our CurliGirls Review
CurliGirls are fun, bright and vibrant plastic dolls that stand about 5 inches tall. They have MagiCurl hair, that curls when you pull it. The longer you pull, the tighter the curl. Their limbs are not poseable, however their heads do turn.
The packaging is eye catching, colorful, and easy to open, with minimal waste.
The doll comes with hair beads, a hair bow, a straightener looking "pulling" tool - (that can be used to pull the strands of hair to curl them), and a doll stand.
The hair strands were easy to pull and curl, we were able to get an array of curls, from super tight curls to loose curls - based on how hard we pulled the hair strand - however, don't pull too hard - the strands do resemble that of rubber bands - it might snap your fingers if you let go while pulling the hair strand(s).
We found that it was easier to use our fingers to pull the hair strands, than it was to use the "pulling" tool provided.
There were many strands, so curling each hair strand individually, does take some time and I could see where children (and adults) with shorter attention spans, would lose interest.
However - it could be a great stress reliever -- pulling each strand individually. :)
For the impatient person - it is possible to pull more than one hair strand at a time to create the curls.
We all were anxious to see if the curled strands really did straighten out once put in the warm water......
And they did!
I think we had more fun watching it straighten in the warm water.
Once the doll's hair strands were dry - we were curious to see how well the hair strands re-curled after being in the water - and to our surprise, the hair strands curled just a good as they did the first time we curled them.
This product does what it claims and can be used over and over - which is great - it's not just a one time use toy. I would however, suggest this for older children. The packaging does say "ages 3+" but given the small accessories, the potential of snapping fingers, and how long it could take to curl each strand - I would say this product is better suited for ages 8+.
